Steve Asplin is a musician, author and educator from Palmerston North New Zealand who has been creating music for the past fifteen years.

His debut album Lament was described by the Manawatu Evening Standard as ‘Nothing Short of Magnificent’. Released in 1998 the album contained fourteen original songs that were recorded over two sessions at The Stomach, Palmerston North’s iconic community focused recording studio.

In 2001 he supported Neil Finn at The Regent Theatre on Broadway as part of Massey’s Orientation program.

The following year Steve Asplin became the Breakfast DJ on Radio Control 99.4FM.

After three years working on-air he became involved in advertising, marketing and event promotion behind the scenes at the station.

Since 2006 Steve Asplin has run Colourtone Media Ltd. A business that specialises in creating custom made audio, composing music, education, publishing and music production.

For the past two years he has also been a regular contributing author to the Manawatu Evening Standard writing about music releases and promoting local music events.

He is also working on writing and producing music in his home studio as well as mixing and producing other artists’ music.
